Violin and DJ

Interested in booking our violinist and dj package? Great!! Do you want the violin for ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, or reception? Or all of it?! The sound of the violin along with the DJ allows for versatility and song selections for our clients wanting a live music component of their event without having to choose between a band and a DJ.

Here are some tips and additional info to consider when booking the violin and DJ!

CEREMONY PACKAGE

We partner with Split Second Sound to provide our couples with the experience of having a “live band” feel at their wedding. Our ceremony package with includes 30 minutes of violin playing (plugged into the dj’s system) with tracks. These tracks are like that of karaoke tracks, in that the violinist is playing the melody (what would be sung), and the dj tracks are playing the accompaniment. This is a premixed set that we have developed which includes about 10 popular prelude favorites.

PROCESSIONALS

Processionals are also included in the ceremony package. This is usually 2 or 3 songs for walking down the aisle. Here is a common processional song layout that our couples will use when they are choosing songs for their ceremony.

1st Processional - Family Seating

2nd Processional - Bridal Party

3rd Processional - Bride

*#1 and #2 are sometimes combined to be the same song.

RECESSIONAL (Exit Song)

Here are the options we offer for the recessional in which our violin plays the melody while the DJ plays the track:

A Thousand Years

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring

Perfect

Bridal March (Wagner)

I Get to Love You

Can’t Help Falling in Love

Canon in D

Wedding March (Mendelssohn)

Signed Sealed Delivered

You Are the Best Thing

Here Comes the Sun

Best Day of My Life

La Rejouissance (Handel)

We also often add cocktail hour! This includes up to 60 minutes of the violinist plugged in “jamming” with the dj. This means the dj plays original songs, and then violin plays along and improvises. This is usually a mix that the dj has developed, but if you have any song requests for the cocktail hour, we can accommodate those.

Another common option is having the violin play acoustically (alone, with no background music), for either the ceremony or cocktail hour. .

FIRST DANCES

We offer an add-on where we can arrange string parts to accompany your first dances (These are played along to the original song while you dance).

RECEPTION ADD-ON

For the reception, we often add 2, 3, or 4 hours from a plugged in violinist to jam along with the dj during the reception as well.

Fun Fact: When our musicians play along with the DJ, they are doing so completely by ear and without any sheet music! The music notes are all improvised in the moment. When the musicians are freestyling along with the DJ we call this “jamming" to the beat of the music.
