Violin Guitar Duet Wedding at North Carolina Arboretum

The Sciurbas’ October wedding day at North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, NC, was accompanied by a violin guitar duet for their ceremony and cocktail hour. We loved playing for Kaitlyn and Joseph’s special day as their day not only was surrounded by their family and friends, but also luscious greenery and gardens.

The North Carolina Arboretum is the perfect backdrop for couples to consider for their weddings:

The North Carolina Arboretum’s Green Weddings Program offers stunning backdrops and packages for events of varying size and scope, from intimate elopements to lavish receptions. Event staff are ready to help create lifelong memories for you and your guests, encouraging environmentally conscious planning as part of the Arboretum’s mission to protect our natural world. Deans’ Duets’ violin guitar duet arrived at The North Carolina Arboretum around 8:30am where sound check and rehearsal followed until 10:30am. Prelude then began at 10:30am as ceremony started at 11:00am. We had the privilege of not only playing for Kaitlyn and Joseph’s ceremony, but also cocktail hour and reception! Cocktail music began around 11:30am where the hour concluded around 12:30pm for the reception. The outdoor October wedding with 60 guests was a special wedding day to be remembered as we were at the couple’s wedding day from start to finish!

Dinner / Reception

While there were a variety of song selections played during dinner and reception, some of the most memorable song selections included “Loving You Easy” by Zac Brown Band, “Eight Days a Week” by The Beatles, “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding, and “For Once in My Life” by Stevie Wonder.

Music

We were honored to play for Kaitlyn and Joseph’s wedding as there were a variety of moving parts throughout their day. Talking over the timeline, transition to cocktail hour, transition to first dance and reception, and additional important details are always an important piece of the musicians’ preparation for our couples’ days so that things flow easily and beautifully. During cocktail hour, contemporary and “good feeling songs” were played to start the beginning of reception. For the reception music selection, the violin guitar duet played continuously throughout dinner as well as throughout the entire reception. As the newlyweds walked in from the garden area, the musicians began playing "Strangers" by The Kinks after John ( the couple’s officiant) introduced the couple into the reception. After the first dance, guests were then dismissed for brunch. "Loving you Easy" and "Angels from Montgomery" were song selections played during dinner with the final song request of the night being"Your Song" by Elton John.

The couple’s wedding day was so unique as they did not have a typical dancing section for their reception and instead had one confluent event which was so personalized! We LOVED being a part of this wedding!
