Violin duets at Ashe County Public Library - Jefferson, NC

Madilyn & I played classical violin duets at Ashe County Public Library in Jefferson, NC, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Our duets were background music for the art reception being held upstairs, and a lot of people found a cozy place to sit and read and listen to the music.

Several people came up and talked to us as we were playing and after we finished. And it was perfect weather for a drive through the NC mountains too!

This was our second performance at the library, so hopefully we'll get to go back again next year.

Celtic / Irish Fiddle Music - Southern Pines, NC

Such a fun gig at Longleaf Country Club!! On a Friday evening, I played violin solos (Irish / Celtic fiddle) for a St. Patrick's Day party held at the clubhouse. It took some practice to play like a fiddler again instead of a classical violinist :)

By the end of the evening, the audience was clapping along with the music, the servers were "riverdancing," and we were all having a great time! This was one of the best audiences I've ever had. One club member even asked the bartender for a jar and made it into my "tip jar." 3 hours of fiddling flew by with such appreciative listeners!

Solo Violin Wedding - Asheville, NC

The next day, Jeremiah & I headed in the opposite direction and up the mountain for a wedding in Asheville, NC. Homewood is BEAUTIFUL! This was my first time playing there. The staff was really great too.

We were guests at this wedding too! The bride Kristin & I were college roommates, and it was so special to see her again, to get to meet her new hubby, & to be a part of her wedding day!

I played classical violin solos for the prelude, Canon in D for the bride, and Trumpet Voluntary for the recessional.

Kristin & I met when we studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain, and she asked that I include a special song from our travels. We went to Austria on a weekend trip and took the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg. I played "Eidelweiss" to remember our fun travels together :)

After the ceremony, we enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and dinner!

I don't remember why we were making faces! It definitely wasn't at the food - because the food was delicious!

Thanks to Kristin & Patrick for allowing me to be part of your wedding day!!!

Marcel & Laura's Wedding - The Sterling - Charlotte, NC

The next Saturday evening, I played violin & piano solos for a wedding at a gorgeous condo in the Myers Park area of Charlotte.

About 40 guests attended the wedding ceremony, and 40 more came for cocktails and the reception.

I played solo violin for prelude and ceremony and then for about 30 minutes afterward. Then the music switched to piano solos for the rest of the evening.

Bride & Groom's favorite artists are Etta James, Frank Sinatra, & Patsy Cline. So I had a great time choosing the reception music!

Thanks, Marcel & Laura, for such a fun time at your wedding! Best wishes on a beautiful married life together :)
